Technical Support

At some point during the course, you may need technical assistance. The following resources are available to help you in those instances.

Blackboard Support

If you are not familiar with using the Blackboard software, please visit the following Web site for a Blackboard tutorial and other student support services from the Center for Teaching, Research & Learning:

Wimba Support

Some professors use Wimba, a synchronous class tool that allows them to conduct classes and office hours remotely. You can access the Wimba Guide for Students and get other support here:

Help Desk

During the Summer 2012 semester, the Help Desk staff will be available for real-time assistance Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling 202-885-2550. You may also e-mail the Help Desk at at any time.

In addition, your course instructor may be able to provide some basic technical assistance or put you in touch with an appropriate contact.

System Status

The secure sections of the Web portal will be unavailable from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday evenings for regular system maintenance.

You may check the status of all American University network systems on the System Status Web site or from the System Status link on the portal or by calling 202-885-3535.

Reliable Internet Access

Please note that if you use a computer with a dial-up modem, you may experience difficulties using all the technologies associated with online learning and may not be able to access all the materials easily or at all.
